ABOUT OUR BEADS
Our beads are made to be used, not to be collector items. After years of making and selling prayer beads in various sizes constructed of various materials we have opted to offer our quality beads as 10mm round habit beads. This decision was based on a variety of reasons. The size and shape make the beads suitable for hands of all sizes. Additionally, the beads are made in the USA of high quality resin making them very durable, yet lightweight enough to easily carry in pocket or pouch. They are resistant to cracking, chipping, and splitting which can occur with other types of beads when used regularly.
The habit beads have a high gloss finish making them aesthetically pleasing. Most importantly, however, is that they are very comfortable to use. While beads made of 'real' stones are inherently assumed to be better than beads made from acrylic or resin plastics, they also have a tendency to be as cold as the rocks they came from, particularly at the 10-12mm size. This can distract the user from the task at hand, mainly focusing on the prayers. Our beads are functional, attractive, and meant to be used.
The BROWN PRAYER BEADS
The Anglican prayer beads are constructed of terra cotta brown matte finish 10mm opaque resin habit beads for the week beads, 12mm round black shiny finish resin beads for the cruciform beads, and black 6/0 Czech glass spacer beads. The beads are imprinted with a plain Latin cross on each side of the beads that matches the plain brass cross. They are strung on heavy duty 1mm waxed wrapped cotton cord which is hand knotted between week beads.
The cross is attached by a jump ring so that, if desired, it may easily be replaced with a different cross or medallion.
The charm shown is coordinated to the cross based on finish, theme and appearance.
Hand knotting the beads reduces wear on the string as well as chaffing of the beads themselves. An additional safety feature is that, in the event the beads should break, the knotting will prohibit all the beads from coming off the string and will keep large portions, if not all, of the beads intact.
